I think in my past life I must have been a fabulous, gay, bon vivant who hosted fetes in his sunken living room serving absinthe and caviar while lounging on a fluffy sheepskin rug.

That’s quite an image, isn’t it now!

But seriously, there is zero end to my love of ridiculous design. The brighter, glossier, kitschier, the better. I have recently reined in my impulses as I am trying to create a home for myself as well as a husband who does not feel the way I do about lucite. For example, I giddily sent him the following sofa the other day.

To which he responded, “That is really cool, but might it be a little flashy for our house”?

Ugh.

Maybe for YOUR house but I would be endlessly cheered by shiney gold upholstered furniture. Other items I would choose to surround myself with if I were to blindly “Follow My Bliss”?Life sized horse lamp? ABsolutely.

Lucite? Obviamente.

Patent Leather Dining Chair? Ideal.

Hot pink EVERYWHERE

I hope that in the end Clifford, The Big Red House will reflect some of this joie d’vivre while also being comfortable for Petey to call it home as well.
