I am not going to lie, I feel pretty cool bringing you this recommendation as this restaurant is sure to be one of the next big Lincoln Park hotspots, and hasn’t even officially opened yet.
Thanks to a tip from one of our friends who works at Boka, Pete and I discovered Kith & Kin last night, and I am just not sure if I am ever going to bother cooking again. This place is so delicious and so incredibly reasonable, not to mention convenient, I really see no reason to ever stay in.
So here’s the deal. Kith & Kin is located in the old La Canasta on Clifton and Webster. They don’t even have a sign up yet, but it was packed last night. The name means “family and friends” and comes from the line in Griswold Family Christmas, “The most enduring traditions of the season are best enjoyed in the warm embrace of kith and kin. Thith tree is a thymbol of the the thspirit of the Griswold family Chrithmath.”
It is casual, but still feels special enough for a date or occasion. Started by chefs from The French Laundry, Alinea, and the wine coordinater from Pops for Champagne, the menu features sustainable American fare at wallet sustaining prices. They take the time to make everything in house (including the breads, pastas, and even the sauerkraut). Pete and I had the Bean Puree, Chicken Liver Pate, Gulf Snapper, Choucroute, Short Ribs, Grits, and Cheese Cake. What!? SHUT UP! WE WERE STARVING!!! Everything was really great, but I would especially recommend the snapper, and the grits.
Since this place is so new it doesn’t even have a website I will post the menu below. But seriously, you have to go here. And if you do, you will probably see me there, and if you come say “hi” I will buy you a drink. Sound good? Great! Happy Weekend!

Hi Bailey! I am Margaret’s bestie and old roommate and I cannot lie, I casually read your blog even though we’ve never met (I think)! I love hearing about your fabulous adventures in CHI and your plans for Clifford. This post caught my fancy because I am a foodie and I actually went to Boka last year when I was visiting – I loved it!! I actually prefer the restaurant scene in Chicago over NYC (and DC, though we’re not really on the same level) – I just think it’s more fun and less pretentious. Kith and Kin looks awesome. You’ve probably been before but another place I loved was Graham Elliot – really fun and unique food. Hope you’re doing well!
