House Beautiful’s Next Wave

In the January issue of House Beautiful they compiled a list of who they think the next 20 hot designers will be. Besides the fact that they left me off of it, as Stephanie Tanner would say: HOW RUDE! after looking through the portfolios of all 20 designers I have 2 things to say.

1. Interior Designers: If you are going to have a website, please spend some dough on it and hire a web designer. I am not going to hire you to do my house if your website looks like my 12 year old cousins blog. Furthermore, if you are going to post pictures of your portfolio, learn how to take a photograph. ‘Cause here’s what. White bathrooms with crappy lighting? All look the same. And not good.

2. House Beautiful: Besides my glaring absence from the list…what’s your problem? What? Oh…Because I have only ever had 2 clients…one of which is me…Point taken. Anyway, good job on your list. Especially in picking:

so many ideas of inspiration here! I love the manicured tree hanging out in one of the corners above ~ what a refreshing break from the typical house plant! :)

That first picture of Sarah Gilbane’s – the neutral living room – is my favorite. It looks like she took a normal, bare-bones condo living room and spruced it up to the umpteenth degree, adding architectural details to the walls and mantel. But I could be making that up.

    Also love “Zoe’s” nursery. : )

    Cheers,
    Alaina

Digging Sara Gilbane’s ethnic florals in the bedroom. Does anyone know the fabric?

Hmmm… Rebecca Soskin for livability, Gary Spain for eccentric glams-the-wazoo.
Ditto your sentiments on web design – don’t designers (above all others) know the power of a great photo?
