Wedding Wednesday: Our Save the Date Sneak Peak!

Soo…I should probably wait to show y’all this sneak peak of our Save the Dates until after the wedding, but it’s my forking wedding (and pete’s too), and I don’t want to…OK????

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we worked with the wildly talented Christine of Yellow Owl Workshop (y’all just went nuts for her work!) in a process that was super collaborative, and I am THRILLED with the results. While I can’t show you the whole package, and probably won’t be able to for awhile (sads) I thought I would show you a rare behind the scenes glimpse of the process we so often don’t get to see.

During our initial conversations about the design for our Save the Dates, we thought we would do a booklet (destination weddings require a ton of logistical information and we wanted to display it in an interesting and aesthetically pleasing way) that would sort of read like a fairy tale with snippets of Pete’s and My love story, while sticking with the whole Aspen forrest theme. Aww. So the first draft included our book cover:

Inside Cover Lining:

savethedateversion1inside(Notice the love birds nestled into the branches)

And a sample page with a portion of our story I had written out:savethedateversion1page1

And we liked it. We really did. I mean it’s good, right? But it just wasn’t quite “us”. You can tell from visiting this site I am a little bit more…colorful? Whimsical? Girly? And so we worked with our wedding planner to figure out some revisions.

And so we got draft two:

version3b(Closer…)

And Draft 3:

version3a(Closer…)

Meanwhile we of course we had to include our babies:

pupperz1(Version 1, Bella the Blonde is perfect, Bernie not so much…)bels

berns

Until…By George, I think we’ve got it!!

In the end the idea of the full on fairy tale telling our story wasn’t really jivin’ (Thank Goodness, Brides Who Mean Business, or you would have been all over me like white on rice) so Chris made it into a map that served as the middle two pages of the booklet. Which I know is formatted too large to fit, but if I sqwunched it down you wouldn’t be able to see all of the details that make it so amazing!

I mean seriously, she even did my beloved Austin house perfectly!

I so wish I could show you the whole package. It is beautiful. Chris and Lisa did an incredible job, and Pete and I feel so lucky that we get to work with them! After being engaged for over a YEAR it finally feels like it is all happening, and we could not be more excited.

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!

This is so amazing to see the process– so glad you decided to amp it up with color. And anything Bernie is involved with, I’m on board.

This has to be the most original and coolest Save the Date ever! It is gorgeous. Your pups are so cute! Are they both cocker spaniels? My little Tate is a cockapoo. :)

I love this post. Read it all the time and this one is especially good. One question…
Bernie appears to be in formal attire? Awfully handsome.

Paloma- Bella is SUPPOSED to be a cockerspaniel, but I think she has some poo in her, I mean look at that hair! Bernie is a mini labradoodle…But after seeing pictures of TaterTot I think a cockapoo might be the missing link here, I think for our next child?…what do you think Petey?

    Is Aspen in Wyoming?

Hahaha Debbie! Good Eye! Yes, in this version it was mistakeningly placed in Wyoming. Thankfully my much more geographically oriented husband-to-be caught this on the draft and we fixed it for the real deal!
