Clifford…Bedroom…I’m losing my mind here people

Can we just clear something up here? When I refer to Clifford, The Big Red House, it’s cause of this:cliffordthebigreddog

You know that, right? Our first home will be beautiful (hopefully) and we are very lucky, but one of our bedrooms is 9×8. Let’s be serious people.

Anyway, I know there has been radio silence for awhile on Clifford, because of some snarky comments received I decided that maybe I wouldn’t post on it anymore. But then I thought, eff you haters. if you don’t like the shit I’m sellin’, then don’t come around here no mo.

Anyhow.

It is now April 2. We were supposed to be in our first home together March 1. This is what our master bedroom looks like right this second:currentmaster

Cozy, right?

I have posted a few times on the various design schemes I had wanted to use in our master, but I am a complete schizo and have changed my mind, once again. Just to refresh your memory, first I was thinking this:3194028807_a9ae5faf3a copy 2

Then I thought no, no, much too much. I want to be a cool hip young married lady, this is too granny.

Kelly Proxmire is much cooler, I want to be her instead.IMG_0547

But still me and do it in a green scheme.

But then I found 19 yard of this on ebay for $450.

As My Favorite and My Best would say, DUMB! Normally that gorgeous junk would be like $2000 bones.

So I snatched it up, but then I was all, “No no, I am a unique and special snowflake, I cannot just straight up copy KP”newbed1

So Imma mix it up a bit. Using this trim…newbed2

And tape to inspire the color palette. 3783777930_d67540fd76 copy 2

I want it to feel kind of like thisblue-bedroom copy 2

Or this

But there is going to be a real life boy living in there with me so I might have to de-girl it just a bit.ritakonigporthault copy 2

I have always loved the juxtaposition between Rita Konigs Porthault sheets and the plaid throw here.dporthaultcourspink

My childhood bed was upholstered with D.Porthault pink cours, and I think it may find its way back into my biscuit now.coursblue

Perhaps in blue this time?

I don’t even know anymore. Am I onto something here? Can you see the vision or have I completely lost my marbles at this point? And does anyone have a place for us to live when our lease is up May 27 and we are officially legit homeless for a month? I am a MESS.

Sooo glad you tossed out the canopy. I might be the only one, but I don’t like the look of them. Maybe because they scream ALLERGIES to me (dust build-up). Hah.

Anywho! I love love love the two new rooms you posted (although the one bed is a tad too ornate for my taste). And I love that wall mural with the flowers. What if you stuck mostly with blues and whites – use your awesome fabric on curtains and/or upholstering some chairs or a bench for the foot of the bed. Blue and white is so hard to tire of and you can mix in pretty much any other color. For example, adding hints of pink, green, and/or yellow here and there in the accents (lamps, throw pillow trim, etc.). That should keep it fairly guy-friendly.

As for the heart bedding, it’s really cute but maybe it’s meant more for a “little girl’s room” over “newlywed suite?” Just a thought! Have you considered just polka-dots or striped bedding?

Hope this was some help! Love the direction you’re heading in now. Keep on posting and just ignore and delete the mean-o comments. : )

    Cheers,
    Alaina

Love the blue and white fabric. It’ll be great with all kinds of throw pillows (even though guys hate those). Maybe with a more masculine headboard for the hubs? Or a grasscloth rug underneath? Or hell, make it as girly as you want, just put a stack of Car and Drivers or Golf Digests by his side, and he won’t even notice.

    Happy weekend! –Katy
