Thank Buddha, It’s Spring: Nick Olsen

This is why I love Nick Olsen:
“Styles evolve, your eye adjusts, you tire of mustard velvet vanity chairs you bought for 20 dollars … my point? There are no mistakes, just fundamentally dull and tasteless people.”-Nick Olsen

He is sassy, and foxy…and ridiculously talented…Remember his apartment in Domino (RIP)?

It still makes me as happy as the day it was borne into my heart, nearly 4 years ago!

…And as it turns out he’s a Grade A Peach of a guy and was willing to participate in our little Spring Series over here. Wasn’t that nice of him?

1. I know Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods when…

The outdoor tables and chairs make it back on the sidewalk.  It might be 51 degrees, but if the sun is shining I’d rather eat my brunch, uh, al fresco than anywhere else  …

2. If I could go anywhere for Spring Break this year it would be…

Buenos Aires! The seasons are reversed so it’s autumn down there, but I love the idea of European boulevards and Beaux Arts architecture in a South American city.

3. My favorite way to celebrate the season is…

Taking the pastel clothes out of my suitcases.  I have VERY minimal storage, so whatever pieces survived the previous year’s purge get stuffed into my old Hartmann set.  I never really wear those Ralph Lauren paisley pants circa 2003, but it makes me happy just reuniting with them after a harsh winter!

4. My Spring Cleaning projects/resolutions are…

I resolve to be realistic about said projects.  I keep a lot of DIY supplies — old paint cans, upholstery foam, fabric remnants, miscellaneous lamp shades — and they take up SO much space.  Spring is time to get real about actually putting these to use or pitching/donating them.Check out the latest Lonny to see how Nick turned this……Into this.

5. The must have for my Spring Wardrobe is…

Anything at the J. Crew Men’s Shop and these Cole Haan blue and white saddle shoes with the red bill:

I die!!

6. My favorite way to bring the season into my home is…

To open my windows!  Spring in New York City means that blissful couple of months (month and a half?) when I don’t have to rely on a radiator or a pathetic window unit air conditioner.  Some decent cross-ventilation makes all the difference in the world. Heck, I might even put a folding chair out on the fire escape!

Thank you so much Nick for participating, and if you want to have a really fantastic day, head over to his blog and read back through his archives. You will not be disappointed!

I loved this post, and seeing NY in the spring – clearly the city’s best season (it’s a very close race with fall though… )

Umm, I feel like getting Nick Olsen to comment here makes you famous by association. He didn’t, by chance, give you his personal cell phone for you to share with some rando girl you don’t even know in Birmingham, Alabama, did he? Because you could email it to me if so.

    I love him.
