I want to thank all of you who left sweet, encouraging comments on my Monday Meltdown post. Pete the Dreamweaver stepped up to the plate big time and found us a place to live, so that right there is one major stresser off my plate. If someone could also take the proverbial CAKE off of my plate and help me cure the FATs, then I think we would be sound as a pound. I especially want to thank all of you for NOT telling me about this woman when I was having my meltdown, because I think knowledge of her cool cucumberness would have made me feel even more like a peep than I already do at the moment.
If you aren’t watching/loving 9 by design, you should be. And now you know.
Now onto the return of all things WEDDING. I have a conference call with the Wedding Planner today at 11 so that should get me back into my matrimonial mood. You have no idea how much I look forward to these calls. I LOVE, like love love love my wedding planner. I want her to be my best friend. When I went to meet with her in LA I kept trying to get her drunk at our lunch meetings so she would stay longer and hang out with me. I can’t imagine why she wouldn’t want to considering how cool that last statement just made me sound.
On my mind today are short wedding dresses. I was always anti-dress change at weddings.
(J.Mendel at Bergdorfs)
I mean honestly, what the eff. You get this beautiful fabulous perfect special dress that you already only get to wear once (unless you are Mariah Carey level crazy and have a wedding every year) and then you want to change out of it half way through the night?
Puh.Leeze.
(Robert Rodriguez at Neimans)
I think it hurts your dresses feelings!
(Rachel Gilbert at NetaPorter)
Well I did, until I actually had my first dress fitting and realized that it was such a gorgeous confection it should not, nay, COULD not be submitted to my dancing. You do recall that I broke my foot AND my ankle dancing.
(Lanvin at NetaPorter)
I’m not a civilized hand-dancer kind of girl. I am a violent, full body expressionist and I am just not sure my dress could take it.
(Lanvin at Netaporter)
Not to mention my friends are complete heathens so there is a 97.5% chance SOMEONE will spill something on my dress.
(Tadashi via Neimans)
So after party dress won me over.
(Stella McCartney at Netaporter)
‘Cept I cain’t find any I love love love like DIE over.
(Amsale)
I kind of want something short and white and sparkly.
(Phoebe Couture at Neimans)
And this Marchesa is the only one I have found that fits that bill.

And while it is nice, it might also be a little dumpy?
Help a sister out, have you any thoughts/dresses/suggestions for me my loves?

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!
9 by design Mom earns a crazy star in my book for being so calm with everything that’s going on in her life, if that made any sense…
If I were an afterparty dress person, this would be my dream! (both are ines di santo)

Kind of like this more ceremony-esque gown:

I would be torn too, but I think it’s a good idea to change, there was a time I wanted to change into a vintage pucci, ha! im over that (or not?…) but I would still like to find a pretty short dress (whenever I get married, not anytime soon, thank you very much lovely boyfriend)
I love the marchesa and the third one!
Cant wait to see what you decide xo
What?!? I love almost all of these. The Lanvin, Tadashi, and the Amsale are my faves and seem they’d be the most flattering.
Glad you are feeling less stressed out! Loving these little shortie wedding dresses!
I’m just going to say I don’t really love the Marchesa…I like Lanvin(s) much better. JMO, of course.
I love the idea of short for reception+dancing!!!!!
There’s this short marchesa too: http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/marchesa-bridal-spring-2011-3038000#/slideshow/article/3038000/3038002

loving all of this Bails!!!!!!!!!! Miss you!

I am OBSESSED with 9 by Design! Mainly because they have a kid named Five. haha Anyway if I did my wedding over or decided to have one every year like Mariah I would totally change because you cannot really bust a move in a long dress. No matter how hard you try to dance you look like you aren’t moving. I would also check out http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_return.jsp?gid=550&p=2

If you want to lose weight get another puppy. I have lost like 5 pounds just playing with her.
I totally love the Lanvin! Love the idea of short dresses. I wore one to my after party but I kinda wanted to change into it even earlier
Do it Bailey! I did and it made dancing into the night way more fun! It was fun to have a costume change and I was way more comfortable. I had mine made and was inspired by a Valentino number I found online, so if you can’t find what you want…make it! Enjoy this time because the night itself flies by!
My girlfriend just got married in Jan and she wore a beautiful white short dress – it didn’t have sparkles, but it did have pockets which to me is even better. Here is the designer pic

love you!
Gosh, I’m so in love with short wedding dresses.
I’ll admit, I’ve actually been considering having two gowns at my wedding. But we shall see!

Great dresses. J.Mendel got me to your site, but I love the Marchesa, Amsale, and Tadashi too. I’m looking for a travel-friendly dress for pre-wedding pics in Europe. If I find a great one I’ll post here for you.
Best wishes,
Tonnyia
