Clifford’s New Spectacles

Clifford got hisself a fresh pair of spectacles this past week and now he is a happy house!Kinda like this.

Or this.

Here the new windows look black, but they are really a super delicious navy. I, for one, think he looks very handsome.

AND all of the framing and electrical is finished…This is the view when you walk into the front door

First you have the lovely nugget living room…

Which is open to the dining room!

So now it is time for me to finally get my act together and start ordering fabrics/furniture. This is very difficult for me as my act is anything but together right now. In fact, right now, my act is a hot forking mess.

But I’m just gonna go for it. Ta-Da!! If I were artistic like Caitlin McGauley I would do a water color rendition of how magical this room will be when it is all done:

But since I’m sadly not, you’re just gonna have to use your noodle to imagine this one.

And if you can’t see the vision and think this is shaping up to be a real disaster, please speak now or forever hold your peace.

Because this is what my home has looked like for the past few weeks…

Fabrics piled high and draped over every possible surface…

I would probably drape them over Pete himself if he would sit still long enough to suffer that humiliation, but fortunately he has the good sense to RUN when I get that crazed look in my eye and start digging through my sample bins. I will say though, Pete is a fantastic design assistant, the main criteria for which is just feigning interest while I ramble. See those blue chairs up there?

Pete designed those himself. I gave him 4 fabrics to choose from when I was recovering those suckers, and he settled on this:

Because he said it reminded him of The Cookie Monster.

And I thought that was as good a reason as any, really.

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!

    Thanks guys!
Kristen-We aren’t building a whole new house, although we might as well be! We bought an old historic house last summer (that had been seriously used and abused and pillaged of all interior charm/character by its previous owner) that I swore up and down to Pete I just wanted to fluff up a little…8 months later we basically gutted poor Clifford, but I think it is going to be totally worth it in the end!

Totally hit my bookmark page expecting to see a filmstrip of you and Pete from the wedding posted. Happy I got to meet you although if I hadn’t had the help of several glasses of champagne I probably wouldn’t have freaked you out. My bf refered to be as “the stalker” for the rest of the weekend. anywho, everything is looking great!

Love all the fabrics you have chosen! Will the furniture be staying with the new rooms? It looks like it’ll match!

And I love that the big, wide doorways between the rooms are arched in the corners. So pretty!
