Wedding Wednesday: Honeymoons

At times in the midst of this packing/moving adventure, I have found myself in the middle of a blackout dreaming of our honeymoon- That we still haven’t booked. We don’t have a lot of time for our trip (5 days), and our various plans have been foiled by plane schedules (Hawaii/Europe), Hurricanes (Caribbean, September = hurricane season), and drug wars (Mexico = Scary). So our latest idea, and I think it is a real winner, is to rent a little boat and sail along the Eastern Seaboard.

Nevermind that neither of us can Sail…details people.

We are currently deciding between heading North around Massachusettes up to Maine. Channeling Jackie and JFK.

Or moseying down south towards the outerbanks ala Joey and Pacey.

These are big decisions, and I could really use your input.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? And do you think I look MORE like Jackie O or Katie Holmes (pre-TomKat break with reality)? Pete’s real flexible and although his hairdo is more JFK at the moment, he has rocked the shaved Pacey hair quite well in the past.

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!

Great idea! But because of hurricane season, I’d stick to traveling up north around Maine. The Maine coast is supposed to be absolutely spectacular.

Those both look so interesting. Let us know what you end up picking! I went to Costa Rica on my honeymoon…June-Sept is the rainy season, but it wasn’t a problem, just a few pm showers. I highly recommend it as a great place to honeymoon!

That seems like a lot of work on your Honeymoon…I hope you hire a first mate or coxswain or whatever! We went to St. Lucia in December, after Hurricane season though.

    Awww Pacey! *swoon*

Sailing together is a very romantic idea and I don’t think it will much matter where you go. For our honeymoon we went to Spain and then on a Mediterranean cruise (France, Italy, Turkey, Greece). For us a cruise was a great way to see the most amount of places with minimal time wasted traveling. It also meant we had an excuse not to visit relatives, which was something I was not interested in doing on my honeymoon.

What about waiting a little for the honeymoon? My sister in law to be took a mini weekend trip to lake Geneva for the weekend after their wedding, then went to Hawaii in December for their real honeymoon. It gave them something to look forward to after the post wedding blues too.

This sounds so cute ! but yeah, it might be a lot of work if you don’t know how to sail. What about heading to central america, like costa rica or bolivia ? I have heard great things and they aren’t that expensive ! Also there is a lot to do ! Also another great idea i have heard is heading to wine country and biking through napa to the different vineyards :)

Obviously I’ve never been on a honeymoon, but what about the Hamptons or Cape Cod?

What about Bermuda? That’s where my sister went on her honeymoon… scooters and bermuda shorts. They stayed at Cambridge Beaches. http://www.cambridgebeaches.com/index.cfm

P.S. I just started reading your blog and love it! I love your taste. If you find yourself looking for an idea to write about…. I live in a rectangle studio apartment and am kind of stumped with how to decorate it… it is pretty boring now. Would love to see what you think about decorating studio apts.

That sounds incredible, but sailing’s pretty hard… And do you need a liscense to rent a boat? I just ask because on family vacations, my dad always had to show is Navy ID to get a sailboat, and I was always under the impression that not everyone was allowed to. That was a while ago, though, so who knows.

Of the two, I definitely vote north. I went to a wedding in Maine last summer, and it was breathtakingly beautiful. How early does it get cold up there? Will September already be freezing? That would be my only fear. But if you get to see the changing leaves, a little chill would be totally worth it.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines! We went during hurricane season and we only had one cloudy/”crappy” day out of 10. We did Palm Island and Petit St. Vincent check them out!

OOOO, I LOVE this question! We were married September 23rd and we went to Paris and the South of France. It was the absolute perfect time of year. Gorgeous in Paris and still warm at the beach. We loved our Hotels – George V in Paris, Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo and the faboooooosh Cap Estel in Eze. I have restaurant recommendations too if you decide to go there!

So fortunately, I am currently involved in a love affair with a skilled seaman. Mike teaches sailing to youngsters on Lake Arlington every summer. So if you need some lessons I can hook it up. Just let me know! Sidenote: he may only know how to operate tiny vessels, but its better than nothing!
