6 years in 60 seconds…Me and Pete…GO!
January 31, 2009 my special manfriend of (at the time) four years proposed to me on a trip back to where we met in Washington, D.C.
We met when we were both at George Washington University, introduced by mutual friends/facebook, first semester Freshman year. I was still sort of dating my high-school boyfriend, and he was pretty determined to sow his royal oats for awhile. But the second we met we were obsessed with each other, inseperable even when we tried for the first semester to just be friends- who occasionally kissed.
After a particularly ill-advised trip to Aspen over New Years with Pete and some college friends (ex boyfriend included) Pete decided he had to be my boyfriend for reals- and the rest, as they say, is ridiculous.
We stayed together all throughout college, even after Pete transfered to Tulane and I to University of Texas. We were finally reunited after 2 years of long distance in Houston for a year, before moving to Chicago to start our lives together!
Along the way we have become proud parents to two adorable pupperz, Bella…
Pete is pretty much my favoritest person in the world. For lots of reasons. He lets me dress him up in extremely silly costumes:
(Me as Blue Bell Peppermint and Pete as Karl Lagerfeld Halloween 2008)
And takes me to Britney Spears concerts when I am crippled…

And is really handsome, just to name a few.
After we got engaged we decided to get married in Aspen, since that was where we fell in lurve, and was sort of a neutral meeting ground for our families coming from Chicago and Houston.

My mom owns a ranch about 20 minutes outside of Aspen in Old Snowmass,

Where we knew we had to have the ceremony and reception.
Our Save-the-Dates, most of you already saw…
But were these awesome little booklets with a map showing the story of our relationship and started hinting at the magical forrest theme that would carry through to the wedding.
The invitations were above and beyond.
Also in the form of the booklet, this time big (like 8×10) and all hand-painted by the artist who designed both the invites and the Save-The-Dates, Christine of Yellow Owl Studio.
The back pocket held inserts with cards for each night of the weekends festivities.
And the envelopes were a bigger version of the same awesome wood-veneer numbers we used for the Save-The-Dates.
I mean how talented is Christine and our calligrapher?? It blows my mind. Like art! They were so special and really set the tone for the weekend, look for a lot of the graphic elements (the dragon fly patterns, animals etc) in the pics from the reception.
So I think we are all caught up now! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments and indulging me as I turn this blog from a somewhat productive place to share ideas on interior design into a full on altar worshiping Me & Pete. I promise you all will return to normal very soon, but it really has been so much fun for me to share with you all the hard work that went into our wedding and hope y’all aren’t TOO bored with me…yet…because we still have a few days to go!
Have a WONDERFUL Weekend, and I will see you back here Monday with our Welcome Party on top of the mountain!
