This will be my mantra…

…After I have birthed Girly McBaby.

Here

Although after 9 months of discovering combinations like mint milanos with nutella (do it) I’m not sure it’ll take.

**PEOPLE!! I did not buy this pillow, it’s a joke. I have gained 45 pounds so far carrying this baby since she is high risk and the concern was getting weight on her quickly in case she was preemie. If you saw what 45 extra pounds looks like on my small frame you would know that given the choice between personal vanity and my nugget, there is no contest. I would never advocate eating issues to my daughter, but I will be advocating a sense of humor.**

Great… just what the world needs…. another girl with a body image obsession. I really hope you’re joking about the pillow. And I hope you encourage your baby girl to be healthy and happy & not worry too much about whether she’s skinny or not (I’m sure you will!).

Too funny! A coworker of mine used to have this taped to her computer. Love it!

But, if truffle fries are wrong, I don’t want to be right…

  7. JULIA June 29, 2011 at 10:32 am

I hope you throw this pillow out before your daughter learns to read!

  8. Sheila June 29, 2011 at 10:38 am

    Hi Bailey,
I love your blog and I’m so happy you are having a baby girl. I think that pillow is really a bad idea. In my opinion it really gives a bad message to young girls. Your daughter should never worry about her weight. She should be playing and having fun, not worrying about what she is eating. Girls have such bad images of themselves and sayings like the one on that pillow are part of the problem.

No worries, we knew exactly where you are coming from. We know that you have the best intentions at heart.

Infant anorexia is a huge issue these days. There isn’t a day that goes by that I dont watch a new VH1 intervention show taking toddlers off to Promises to befriend Lindsay Blowhan and deal with the damage that their mother’s decorative pillows have caused. But considering what a good cook you are, I’m sure girlie mcbaby will grow up to be a plump little love nugget.

    Jeez Jessica, Relax girl.

  12. Sweet Nothings June 29, 2011 at 11:12 am

I dont know you in real life, but read your blog enough to know what a joke is vs when youre being serious! Come on people. This is the girl who uprooted her life to go to texas to make sure her little nugget had the best drs..shes obvi not going to do anything to harm her.

that being said…Id totally buy that pillow

First time commenter – have fallen in love with your blog though and I just wanted to say this made me laugh and laugh! If the baby comes out with your sense of humor she will be alright….

  15. Jennifer June 29, 2011 at 11:38 am

Um, dying laughing at Elizabeth’s comment. Clearly, you will be an excellent mama who will do anything to make sure you baby is a healthy, squishy little nug ‘o love.

  16. Stina June 29, 2011 at 11:39 am

ummm if Jonathan Adler really wrote that comment that is the awesomest thing ever

  17. Calley June 29, 2011 at 12:01 pm

Little baby girl knows what she wants – and it is mint milanos and nutella! FYI I had this motto taped to my fridge. It didn’t work. I decided that lots of things taste better than skinny feels – caramel corn, cambazola cheese, kettle chips, prosciutto, any flavor ICE CREAM…

  18. palizter June 29, 2011 at 12:34 pm

oh my gosh! seriously people need to chill out! Clearly if you have read anything on this blog, you know that she is doing EVERYTHING possible for her baby and that she is hysterically funny without malice. And no one likes to feel large–it doesn’t mean you have an issue!

  19. juju June 29, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Obviously this pillow hasnt munched on cheese or truffle fries lately

  20. Cat June 29, 2011 at 1:12 pm

STAND YOUR GROUND! You’re hilarious, and the pillow is true. And for 5’2 small people like ourselves we need to be petite for our health as well. People are so weird. Humor is key.

  21. janebird June 29, 2011 at 1:19 pm

get it girl! my highschool gf’s maman had one on their guest room sitting area’s armchair that said “raising teenagers is like nailing jello to a tree” – loved it, and this one too. how much longer do we all have to wait and wait and wait for G McB again?

  22. Kate June 29, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Can I just add that while I admire women being protective and conscientious about creating a sense of body image in young girls, we are also looking at a huge rise in childhood obesity in this country and abroad. “Don’t ever talk to your daughter about food” is hardly the right answer any more than “teach your daughter to diet” is the right answer. Teaching children about healthy eating habits, high levels of physical activity, good sleep habits, and as little screen time as possible seems to be our best tactic. We can’t be afraid to talk to our daughters about food, we just have to be sure what we’re teaching them is about their health and not their appearance!

  23. Anne June 29, 2011 at 4:15 pm

Yikes everyone!! I’d say a Mom who cares enough to uproot herself, constantly blog about the love she already has for her unborn child and a mom who has such a great sense of humor will do just fine. This is obviously a lighthearted joke. I’d say an uptight freak of a mom will do much more damage. So have a good laugh, sympathize with Bailey about the weight she has put on and enjoy life. No need for the drama the world has so loved to create these days.

  24. Court June 29, 2011 at 6:20 pm

Bailey, you are my hero, hugs! I have not yet had the blessing of being preggo yet but that won’t stop me from trying the mint milano and nutella combo asap, yum. Love love love your blog!

  25. alissa June 29, 2011 at 7:22 pm

You crack me up. I LOVE this!

  26. e June 29, 2011 at 8:18 pm

considering this blog is named after ice cream, i’m prettyyyy sure everything is a-ok over there!! :) keep on keepin on bailey!!

  27. Iris June 29, 2011 at 10:25 pm

this pillow is too funny, and to be quite plain the people who take it too seriously are the people who exacerbate general eating issues. bailey is a smarty smart little lady with a wicked sense of humor. good on ya for keeping happy and enjoying what must be the most exciting time in your life!

  28. Roxy June 29, 2011 at 10:46 pm

Perssssonallly I think Bailey is hillllarious. People who read this blog on a regular basis know that she has a good sense of humor and her words are to be taken lightly unless she says otherwise.

That pillow is meant to be a joke first off and to anyone who seriously took any of this to heart needs to go take a chill pill and go to your nearest bar order a tall vodka soda and learn to take life a little less seriously.

  29. Laura June 30, 2011 at 10:20 am

My mom had this on our frig growing up. I have never had body issues- if anything it made me think twice before I ate a second bowl of ice cream. She taught us self control and we are all healthy and very happy! So buy the damn pillow if you want too! I know you and your daughter will be fine. I had a baby in January and still have a “bit” of weight left on me. I know I will lose it-I keep telling myself it took 9 months to put it on so I have at least that long to lose it!

  30. Mackenzie June 30, 2011 at 2:05 pm

The first thing I thought when I saw this pillow was, ” Where can I get this made into wallpaper to plaster on my fridge & pantry?!” Hilarious & helpful.

And, do these sillys not read all your posts on restaurants? Or see your engagement pics with you hoovering a cupcake?

    Keep on keepin’ on!

    Mackenzie
