Is stressful!
Pete is leaving me for the weekend alone with BabyG…For like, 4 days. On one hand I am excited for lots of momma baby time, on the other I look like a less cute version of this puppy all “Oh no!! How am I going to eatshowergotothebathroom!!!!”
Which might not be the worst thing in the world as I contemplate embarking on The Humiliation Diet. I’d like to think of it more like an accountability diet. And actually I would like not to think of it as a diet at all, and more just the way to get my life back. I don’t want to post my weight every day, because I don’t want to weigh myself every day and stress myself out. And I also don’t want to post my actual weight because 1. Ouch and 2. It is not about the actual number, and I don’t want to get into a comparison with anyone else. I remember reading back in the day that Tyra Banks was a size 10 and being like, I’m a 10!! I’M A SUPER MODEL!!!!! Well no, Tyra Banks is also 6 feet tall. I am 5 foot nothing. We wear clothes slightly differently.
The cold hard facts are these. I gained 70 pounds while pregnant with Girly McBaby. Yes, part of that is because I was told not to worry about gaining weight by my doctors who were concerned she would be premature, and felt that it was more important to get weight on her any way possible. And she was born healthy at 8.1 pounds so I don’t regret it. But I also know gaining 70 pounds wasn’t doctors orders. It was because I was sad and ice cream is like prozac and really, I just have issues with food. And most importantly, I do not want to pass on my issues with food to my baby girl. I want her to learn from my healthy habits, and my positive body image, and so it is time to get serious.
I think instead of posting my weight every day, or even once a week, I am going to write about my progress towards my goal every Friday. I won’t bore y’all with the details because I am sure a lot of you reading this now are like what the eff do I care about your large bottom. That’s your gross problem. Fair. I also know a lot of you read MODG and she is doing something similar. I have been following along and participating and I am not trying to copy her or steal her thunder, but I need more accountability than I get hiding out in her comment area.
So here I am.
35 pounds away from my goal. I am doing this for my baby, and also a lot for my own comfort and vanity. And health and all that. And skinny jeans. Because there is nothing more insulting to ones ego than being fat in the age of SKINNY jeans.
I’m comin for you J.Crew skinnies.
If any of you want to share tips, as so many have been kind to do in answer to my twitter cries for help, or join along with me, comment along. So here we go, no more cake porn, no more bitching about my weight or fishing for compliments, just hard work and progress.
xoxo,
Bailey

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!
good luck!
Jenny craig is the best! I’ve been doing it since July and lost 25 lbs. I probably couldve lost more but I cheat on the weekend. Maybe give it a try!?
I too am in the same boat…although minus the whole kid thing, which would give me more reason to be overweight, but whatevs! I am looking to lose about 60lbs and have been using the site loseit.com and they also have a great app for your phone. Check it out, hopefully it helps, I know it’s helped me out!
Good luck!
You will do great! Those oh so colorful jcrew jeans are perfect motivation. Hint watch out for the calories in drinks like a latte and fruit juice they will sneak up on you. Kick butt and take names!
Google 3 day diet. It is an interesting combo of food that will help you lose initial weight quickly. I have lost 7 lbs of baby weight since the new year with it. Good luck!
From one food lovin’ girl to another, you should check out Paleo. It is super healthy and you will feel great. I know you like your bread and bread-related goodies but I promise after a while you won’t miss them! I’m working on my last 10 or so pounds from baby #2 and it has been so helpful…especially with energy. Good luck!
Hey Bailey,
As someone who put on about 55 pounds after getting a bit too comfortable in a new relationship a few years ago (thank goodness he didn’t care!!) I lost all of it and then some with the help of the Bar Method. It’s an hour long work out and tones and strengthens your body, I don’t know if they have studios in Austin (I think they might or may have one soon) but they do have DVD’s that I’ve heard are really great. A bonus of it too is that many of the studios offer day care while you take class so you wouldn’t have to worry about mc.baby. Another helpful thing I found was an app on my phone called my fitness pal where you can log your weight, food, work outs etc and it tells you when you need to eat more or less in order to achieve your goal. It took me 8 months of bar method to get back to my old size and a few months later I’m even smaller, have nice muscle tone a cute round bum and frankly have never felt better. Good luck I look forward to reading your progress. just remember don’t beat yourself up for eating a piece of cake or bowl of ice cream every now and then.
Bailey! You should definitely think about doing weight watchers. I just started and am loving it..and also having a lot of success (but still getting to enjoy a little cake porn). http://www.skinnytaste.com will change your life. Just my two cents!
go bailey go!! i’m very interested in this “journey” for you…my weight has been up and down a ton over the last few years and now i’m pregnant! SO EXCITED, but know i’ll have a lot of getting in shape to do once i’ve had the baby. i’ve had great success with weight watchers in the past, if that’s something that interests you at all. good luck, and know that your readers still think you are a total mchottie!
Good for you for wanting to model good habits for Gracie!
I just read a really inspiring story about a woman who had lost almost 200 lbs (see, look at you, you only have a measly 35 to go!), and she said that the entire time she focused on 5-10lb increments. She got totally overwhelmed thinking about the big number she wanted to lose, but 5-10lbs was manageable. So that would be my advice.
Also, make small changes that you can stick with re: your diet. Don’t suddenly BECOME A VEGAN overnight or some crap like that. It will last 2 weeks tops.
Have you considered Weight Watchers? I know a LOT of friends who have had crazy success with it. Taught them to look at food in a whole new light. And you can do the online version if you want to, so no meetings if that’s not yo’ thang.
xoxo
Sarah
Hi Bailey,
I cant say enough good things about weight watchers. It gives you freedom while keeping you honest…and still allows for a little cake porn every now and then. Also, you should check out http://www.skinnytaste.com
I think this is awesome. I know how stressful trying to lose weight is, and my best advice is to KEEP BUSY so you’re not always thinking about how hungry you are (that was my curse during WW. When can I eat next? How many points do I have left today?! What? That’s it?!). Get out of the house for long periods of time. Run errands. Work. Cook. Dance with Grace. ANYTHING to keep your mind off food. At least that’s why I always snacked so much – boredom. And staying up late. And I just glanced at that humiliation diet – he’s right. It’s all about diet, and not really about exercise.
Anywho, I’ll stop rambling. I am excited for you and here for you! Go Team Bailey!
Way to go sistah!!
Not sure if you’ve heard of Tracy Anderson but she’s Ms. Goddess Gwyneth Paltrow’s trainer. Gwynnie swears by her and therefore so do I. I bought her workout DVDs and her 30 day method book which is complete with a food plan and workout DVD plan. I’m going to buck up and really commit to it soon because I did see results when I would do her regular workouts from time to time. Plus, in the intro Gwynnie says she lost something ridiculous like 14 inches in the first 10 days. So, if she can lose 14 inches in the first 10 days off of her non-existent frame, I’m guessing I could punch at least 20…or maybe not. Either way, her method targets lady figures. Most fad workouts and intense “get thin quick” methods target your larger muscle groups like biceps, abs, hamstrings, etc. and therefore you end up looking freakish like Jillian Michaels. Ew. Nobody likes that. Tracy targets the lady accessory muscles which are the smaller muscles that when toned and worked out, end up making you look lean and tone and don’t add any bulk to your frame.
Anyway, I’m buying her BS so thought you would be interested! After all, TA created this method after she popped out her little muffin so I’m sure post baby weight will practically just melt away. That happens.
Here’s her website!
http://tracyandersonmethod.com/
Bailey I am totally with you! I was just talking to my boyfriend last night about how much weight each of us has gained in the years we have been together.
You can do it! And like it was mentioned before, Weight Watchers is great if you really keep up with it. I lost a good chunk of weight on that program. The only downside (and it isn’t even really a downside) is that you lose weight slower, which is healthier. I learned so much about food that way.
Also have you read Skinny Bitch? The book is hilarious and while the authors do spend the whole time trying to convince you to cut out life’s deliciousness (dairy, meat, bread, sugar in general, coffee, etc) it is a great read because they are hilarious, very smart, and well researched. It is a great motivator.
Maybe your enthusiasm for getting in shape and losing weight can be motivation to me and other readers to do so as well. All in it together! You go girl!
Yay! I think this is wonderful, and I’m excited to hear about your journey.
My two cents are just that there are a bajillion ways to lose weight and as long as you’re not depending on a really loony one, you’ll be fine. Know that it will work, and it will work. Positivity is the best diet. (And not to be too much of a wacko myself, but I do sort of wonder if the ice cream had less to do with your weight gain than the sadness. At the very least, I think the sadness could have had an impact.) You’re gonna look so hot in those J.Crew skinnies!
Good for you Bailey! I am a big fan of Bar Method here in Chicago. I gained quite a bit of weight when I first lost my job (food is so comforting!) but then I was out of work and didn’t fit into my clothes (so sad) and something had to be done. I am trying to take it one day at a time and so far it’s working. S..l..o..w..l..y, but hopefully that means it will be permanent. 100% agree with Alaina-distraction is the name of the game. Thinking positive, thin thoughts for you!
I had some awesome success with CalorieKing.com — it sounds so scary to log your food and calorie intake every day, but I found it really manageable. I also ate a small dessert most days, so I never felt like I was deprived. Calorie King also helps you focus on getting enough protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals from your diet so you are getting all the essentials from your diet.
One thing I found super helpful when eating out, I almost always order vegetarian at a restaurant, meats are very calorie dense foods, and I without meat, restaurants are focused vegetables. After eating vegetarian at restaurants, I’ve started cooking mostly vegetarian meals at home — I’ve seen such a difference in my body. I feel stronger, happier, and have less bloating, even my boyfriend has lost weight!
Good luck though! I hope you find what works for you!
Haii girl hai,
You will do this and feel great. You love good food and a delicious margartia, and you should. Don’t get into a program: paleo, weight watchers, they all “worked” for so many people, but don’t “work” forever, for people who like to celebrate, hit the town, whip up magic in the kitchen. Eat whatever you want to, drink whatever you want to, and have a bit. There will never (god willing) be a shortage of cupcakes, or margaritas. They’ll be around forever, so don’t lean on them, and don’t fight them. They’re just food, and drinks. The extra delicious guilty-free jumbo sized everyday order should be for love and fun, and you’ve got oodles of that going.
You’ll do it!
Good for you for putting this out there, and for not trying to have a “fashion pregnancy” and gaining weight for the baby’s sake. I too love food and wine a lot more than I love working out. I saw a couple of other commenters write about Bar Method an Tracy Anderson, and I have to agree that I find those types of workouts the most effective. I’ve done a lot of Bar Method, Core Fusion, and Physique 57 in NYC. Physique 57 is my favorite by far, I never tire of the workout, and I have literally dropped a size within 5-10 classes. I’m sure there has to be some type of Barre class in Austin, but if not I know there are DVDs. There is something about being encouraged in-person by an instructor though, and competing with the other ladies in class
Also, do you have an Lululemon? I swear it sucks you in, and I am more inclined to work out if I think I’m looking cute!!!
I see that some other people have posted this but it seriously is amazing! skinnytaste.com is where I have been getting nearly all my recipes lately. I went to Aspen for new years and made the turkey taco chili to have in the house as we popped in and out from the slopes and the boys devoured it! I have been asked to make several of her recipes over and over, even by the men in my life! ch-ch-check it out if any of you haven’t already. most of the recipes are pretty easy too!
Right there with ya! Mine’s more or less from thinking I can eat whatever my husband eats and get away with it, but I can’t! So, now I’m going to join you on this little journey to Skinny Jean heaven! I’ve put on a good 40 lbs. since getting married and it’s time for that to go–poor husband did not bargain for a 40 lbs. heavier wife! Anyways, I’ve been getting quite a few recipes from Kelly at eat-yourself-skinny.com and they’ve all been great so far! I’ve also been doing p90x which kicks my butt, but seems to be making my arms less flabby! So those are my tips, but I’m excited to hear what you end up doing! Glad to have a buddy on this {not so fun} journey!:)
PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!
I wrote a blog about this so check it out, but your best best bet is tracey mallet, get your body back. I have had 3 kids, cancer the treatment to which inflated me like a balloon, and Tracey always gets me back. 6 minutes! Thats it. twice a week. for a month, then up it to 12 minute. I NEVER WORK OUT more than that. That, and I cut back to one cookie a day ( I love cookies!). As someone said to me- you’ve been deflated. Nice, I know. But oh so true. Best of luck!
Did it post? Check out my blog. I have done this 3 times for post having a baby and once after a cancer treatment that inflated me like a balloon. TRUST ME!! it works.
Using myfooddiary.com really helps. Also, since you are in Austin, “My Fit Foods” and Snap Kitchen are tasty, prepared meals for watching calories while eating healthy — you can buy the bigger portions for your husband and get the smaller ones for yourself.
You can do it!! Last year I bought an amazing Breville Juicer and started making this green juice every morning and that really helped me kick start the health plan. I highly recommend! I watched this Martha video, had it for breakfast every day, and never looked back!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kguQEz-Rakw
I have two words for you: Richard Simmons. I have loathed working out for my entire life until he came along… go on amazon and buy “party off the pounds.” You will NOT be sorry!!!
I loved, loved this post. So honest and I can very much relate. By the way – that article was the funniest thing I’ve read in ages. (esp. the shots of ranch part) You can do it! And hopefully me, too!
I loved, loved this post! Such great honesty and I can totally relate. The article was the funniest thing I’ve read in ages. (esp. the shots of ranch part) You can do it! And hopefully me, too!
I lost some weight recently and the number way I did it was following the Paleo as closely as possible. I say “as closely as possible” because really, I’m not gonna cut out pizza in my life. But I also don’t eat pizza everyday. So mostly remove everything grain related, rice, dairy and all you can really eat is what’s left, which is veggies, fruit, nuts, meat, eggs. Yes, it’s boring, but I kid you not, the extra weight disappeared and my skin cleared up as well.
Hi Bailey!
I love your blog, but have never commented before. Since I saw a few other posts mentioning The Bar Method, I thought I would chime in as well. I’ve been practicing Bar Method for 2 years and it has made such a huge difference in my body. I’m longer, leaner, more toned and have so much more energy.
Unlike other barre-based classes, The Bar Method is grounded in physical therapy, so first and foremost it is a safe and effective workout.
There is a studio in Austin:
http://www.facebook.com/TheBarMethodAustin?sk=info
The workout is 1 hour and SO addicting. And you’ll LOVE the music they play–your girl Britney and other fun, upbeat, current pop songs that really motivate!
The longer you do it, the more challenging the workout becomes because you learn correct form and how to work in the muscle. Many of the movements are teeny tiny–if you looked in the window at a class in progress, you’d barely know the students were working out! If you can get yourself there for 1 class it will change. your. life.
Good luck!
Bailey,
You go, girl! It’s hard, I know. I’ve done this three times now and each time I got out of it what I put it, which was A LOT.
I moved from California to Texas three years ago and have put on 35 pounds! This week I decided that this is just NOT acceptable. I signed up for weight watchers because it worked for me in the past but I discovered this week that my problem isn’t so much food or lack of working out but WINE, of all things! damn…that’s going to suck.
One way I’ve been able to keep myself motivated is looking on the Fitness section of Pinterest. Between the motivational statements, tutorials and photos of what I want to look like, it gets me up off my butt and doing it. Each time I want to grab a handful of chips I pull up a photo of Ms. Hot Stuff and remember what I’m doing it for.
Good luck to you and I’ll be doing this along with you!
You can do it!!
As someone that has dealt with “Food issuses” since high school, I feel it’s rarely about the workout plan or diet plan. Weight/weight lose/body image is emotional. People can tell me what to eat what to do but it’s that inner devil that I fight.
After years of coming up with reasons to “get skinny” I realized those reasons weren’t always for me and didn’t always align with what truly makes me happy. I can’t get skinny to be like my friends or wear a bikini or getting to a certain number. I will never skip a dinner with friends and wine because of a diet. That is my happiness. However, I like myself a whole lot more when I am comfortable in what I wear and how I feel. For me, and the 10 lbs I need to lose, I focus on the function of food. Lunch on a Tuesday? Probably more functional needing food for energy than a time I need to splurge, or give in to that cookie someone brought in the office. Friday night at a new restaurant, that’s worth indulging. It’s finding balance and acceptance of your food love and recognizing what’s worth the splurge and when you’re eating for some other reason (read: boredom, sadness, stress, guilt)
Also, while I agree that what you eat is paramount to weight lose, I truly believe in the power of exercise. Don’t be a skinny gal with saggy skin. Be the strong mama that’s active and energized! Show youself and your family that our bodies are amazing and can do all kinds of things. Set a goal. I sign up for races, walk/runs, 5ks, mini-triathalons, etc. They give you a date that you have to perform on, let you try something new, and there’s nothing like the feeling of meeting your accomplishment!
I NEVER write comments on blogs, so this long-winded one feels quite funny. I did start reading you blog about a year ago and have very much enjoyed it! Good luck with your goal and keep up that blog. Lurv-it long time!
Last summer I read the “4-Hour Body” by Tim Ferriss and it worked for me pretty quickly. Premise behind the plan is slow carb eating which means no white carbs (pasta, bread, rice, potatoes and sugar). Wasn’t that hard to follow – didn’t have to devote hours at the gym and pounds still melted off. I’ve been losely following it since summer and maintained my 10 pound loss.
Bailey! This is exciting! There is nothing more empowering than taking your life into your own hands via diet, or as I like to refer to it, lifestyle change
I think I posted on your twitter already, but I effing SWEAR by the free iPhone app “My Fitness Pal.” It’s a daily calorie counter with a database of over 2million foods, so you can easily look up what you are putting into your body and portion accordingly. Honestly, you can eat whatever you want as long as you are employing portion control. I’ve lost almost 15 pounds since October, and made it through the holidays without putting any additional pounds on. I’ve recommended the app to dozens of people at work as well, everyone is really into it. Highly recommend!
Beauty Detox diet – Green smoothie in the AM and pilates (reformer) and cardio! You can do it!
Watch “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead”…then buy a juicer. By replacing one meal a day with fruit & veggie juice has helped me lose almost 10 lbs (and satisfies my horrible sweet tooth with vitamins instead of chocolate)
So proud of you Bailey… your honesty is inspiring, and Baby G is lucky to have you as a role model/mommy!
Hey Bails! I think you look fabulous no matter what, but I thought I’d throw my 2 cents in (along w everyone else
) being that, well, 1. you’ve seen me from go from massive to not so and 2. I am on a perpetual quest to lose15lbs…I LOVE sparkpeople.com, I think it’s a wonderful way to keep track of what you eat / exercise and isn’t restrictive, and I found that yoga really changed my body. Also, if you’ve ever considered joining a YMCA the Les Mills classes (esp. Body Attack) are amazing. Good luck sista, I’m right there with you!!!
(1) Jillian Michaels. Yes, she is a cruel shrew and you will basically spend 25 minutes jumping around in your living room in pain as this woman (who could bounce quarters off her 8-pack abs) squawks at you. BUT it’s a full-body workout which can do it at home, and she provides very detailed (and filling) meal plans that involve good food. And, well, you can’t argue with results (google “30 day shred success pictures” and prepare to be impressed).
(2) if you’re a goal-oriented person (or borderline goal-obsessive, like moi), try using one of the calorie-counting apps (like “Lose it”) that gives you a daily calorie budget calculated to lose your weight goal (eg, 2 lbs/week or whatever). It really does help you keep track.
(3) When I’m hungry or craving something off of my diet, I play tricks on my brain. I tell myself I can have the craved-for-food after 1) drinking a glass of water and waiting 5 minutes; then 2) eating something low-cal/boring (like a rice-cake or apple); and (sometimes) 3) distracting myself with an activity for 5 minutes. Since thirst often masquerades as hunger, you’re most likely to not want the food after the water step; and the other two steps help distract/fill you, too. This typically works for me.
(3) take pictures of yourself along the way. it will help you focus on your goal and feel like your progress is really paying off.
Good luck and God speed!
Hey Bailey! Hope your fam is loving Austin! Throughout my college career there I never worked out until senior year when I found pure barre. There are 2 studios in AUstin – 1 in westlake and the other out by the aboretum – they’re SUPER low-intensity (you won’t be pouring sweat) but they are super challenging and definitely do the trick. Plus, I loved going which was a plus. To my chagrin, they don’t have one in houston
… I highly recommend it!
CUZZLE!! In the city you are currently in (which I hope you are loving again!!), I would recommend walking the trails every day (beautiful and relaxing, while also a work out), hitting up the farmers market on Saturdays, and even joining a grocery delivery like Farmhouse Delivery. I joined Farmhouse about 6 months ago, and they deliver a box of fresh, delicious produce to your house every week. I love to cook too, and wasnt willing to give that up to diet, but the Farmhouse boxes let me continue to explore culinary deliciousness while still being health. Good luck to you and the littlest!
Good for you! I’m going to be in the same boat in about three months after I have my baby girl. I think it’s fantastic you’re willing to share this with all your readers and I wish you the very best of luck.
hey bailey! i’ve also never commented but all the love barre excersise is getting on here inspired me! DEFINITELY check out one of the studios in Austin, they are life changing. I got to “Define” here in Houston and have lost over 10 lbs in less than 6 months, and I feel so much stronger and self confident. Again, the workouts aren’t high cardio, but they’re very focused on the 4 major “problem areas” (abs, glutes, thighs and arms) as well as a lot of stretching and it gets the job done. Not to mention, the classes are actually fun! Much more exciting than running on a treadmill or something torturous. The stuido in Houston has a few classes a week where you can bring your baby and they can do exercises with you – I’m sure studios in Austin have a similar option.
Good luck!!
Hey! I am 5’3 and recently lost 15 pounds. It took about six months, but, as a total foodie and someone who basically never had to worry about weight because of a fast metabolism and youth (I’m 24), it was difficult. I did this in a total cliche way: I eat every three hours to keep my metabolism going, drink 64 oz of water a day to keep myself full, and aim to eat things with tons of fiber and protein to keep me full. Oh, and I lost it all WITHOUT WORKING OUT because I absolutely hate working out. Anyways, just throwing my two cents out there. I love love love your blog, and I can’t wait to follow along with you every Friday!!!
Bailey,
Good for you! I am proud of you and will be rooting for you! If you want to lose real pounds fast, I have to suggest the HCG diet. (I did the drops… no injections) Yes, people will think you are crazy so I would keep it a “secret” if you do choose to do this. However, it works. FAST. And it lasts! I did a bunch of research on this, and it is safe. It has been around forever, and like I said, it works fast… which in my opinion is the best way to lose weight
I am sure that anyone who reads these comments will likely ring me through the ringer, but I would recommend this to anyone. It is very popular on the east and west coasts… working its way to the heartland. It is expensive, but in the end, it is sooo worth it. I had so much more energy!
Worth looking into at the very least. It is definitely not for everyone, but if you follow it correctly, it will work for everyone. And no, I was not hungry. However, I did get sick of the food… but I now look at food as fuel and not as my friend. So, I think that is worth it’s weight in gold!
Hi Bailey!!!
Ok the new rage in Fort Worth is the “Ideal Protein” diet. i have not heard a single negative thing about it and i know about 6 or 7 people who have done it and they have ALL reached their target weight and look AMAZING. Most lose 5-7 lbs in just the first week or 2 weeks!! It’s nothing crazy, (like cutting out meals)- its actually all about eating the foods your body needs for fuel, aka protein, and cutting out the sugar and carb cravings! if you want more info you can google it, or just email me and i will give you the dets!
I am not a diet person- but this diet just makes sense and seems really healthy and the way to do it!!
Hi Bailey,
I love your blog and have been reading for quite some time but never commented before.
I am also trying to lose weight and I wanted to wish you luck!
I have started taking bar method classes and I really enjoy them, I am hoping for results like others have experienced.
Very excited to hear about your journey.
Bailey,
This is why I fell in love with your blog! I so appreciate your honesty on all things. About 6 years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I was 21 and unbelievably healthy and fit at the time. I think at that point it kind of became my excuse to stop exercising. I was lucky though because up until last year I was not working out and eating whatever I wanted (within reason – I do enjoy healthy foods/fruits and veggies so my meals were not horrible but I definitely didn’t deny myself much outside of my meals). Then last year I started a new job that allowed me to have a much more normal schedule which led to more not working out, eating whatever, and added a lot more drinking. And finally starting this past summer/fall it all caught up to me. My weight jumped up and my jeans no longer fit. I’ve been living in leggings and my pixie pants from JCrew. I’ve been telling myself I’m going to start a diet, I’m going to start working out, blah blah blah for months. This is a great post and I love that article – it’s so blunt and really has everything in it you need to lose weight. I lost a decent amount of weight in high school and in college and both times my saving graces were eating frequently – this is the only thing that really keeps me from feeling famished. On top of that – stay busy and take it one day at a time. The whole goal can seem so daunting and seem like the amount of time it will take is infinite. But neither of those things are true and the best way to deal with that is by taking it meal by meal, day by day, pound by pound. Sorry this was so long but this really inspired me to get back into my jeans and I wish you tons and tons of luck and skinny jeans!
I love this post.
So, the hard part about losing weight is that there is no miraculous water detox drink, exercise method or calorie counting app to make it all happen. You CAN do those things, but your results will only be temporary.
You have to decide each day to put your health and your goal first. It’s about a lifestyle change. Things will happen slowly at first, but soon you will come to love your new habits (daily exercise, drinking more water, etc).
I am also saying this as someone who is actively working for this. I think I have just now become obsessed with the sweat and endorphins from a good work out. Also, eating clean actually feels good.
You got this!
Hey Bailey!
My mom and I went on Weight Watchers right after Christmas and here are the reasons I’m a fan:
1. Accountability. You go weigh yourself in once a week and it helps to remind you of your goal and you want to see a lower number on the scale so you stick with the plan.
2. I noticed what I was eating. I LOVE food and WW let’s you eat foods you love, but it also just makes you realize how much you eat that you don’t need.
3. I started cooking more because home cooked meals are healthier (well, they’re supposed to be haha).
4. After my mom had 2 babies, she said she went on WW and lost like 20 lbs and never really put it back on because she did it gradually and developed good healthy habits…just like what you’re talking about doing!
5. And last, you get points for exercising, which makes you feel good and they give you “extra” points to use when you need just reallllly need a cupcake!
You can do this! I’m excited to read your posts about it because it’ll keep me accountable too! Good luck with whatever you choose! You’re going to do great!
I bet you look better than you think you do. Just to give you a little hope, I gained at least 50 lbs while I was pregnant with my son (I stopped looking when I hit the 200 mark) . He’s 15 months old now and suddenly the weight has fallen off and I am one size away from my pre-pregnancy “skinny size” (and I’m never a girl who just loses weight and is like oh how did that happen?). Anyway, I started to notice a huge change when my son started running all over the place and wanting to eat all of my food. I love to eat all day long and suddenly I can’t do that anymore. I’m either chasing him or feeding him. I literally have no time to think about snacking. So if you feel frustrated or you have a day where you don’t stick to whatever diet you decide to go with just know there will come a time pretty soon where sweet Baby G will take up so much more of your time and energy and you will suddenly start seeing the old Bailey in the mirror! Trust me. It will happen.
P.S. Dance party with your little one is great exercise and they love it. We do it every afternoon.
