Umph.

Our bedroom is the one room we bought new furniture for in George Banks. We got a new bed. Our old bed was really built for the situation at Mr. Clifton, and so it was time to start over.

Ta-Da!

Yellow!

So we were going to do this fly wall treatment, and we had the green rug made and the ceiling painted pink with that in mind, but then it turned out to be too ‘pensive so now here we ares with nakey walls.

And now how do you possibly unite grassy green rug and pink ceilings and yellow and wha???

So I am thinking one of these wallpapers on a singular wall.

An accent wall if you will. Vom I know. But I think it would be pretty.

See, cause here is the greeny rugness:

I’d match the other walls to the background of the paperz…Like soothing gray.

I don’t know, I think it would be pretty!

Thoughts?

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below!

I love the swan wallpaper and think it would look great on one wall of the bedroom! And I LOVE that yellow headboard!:)

Dying over your yellow headboard and green monograms and love the idea of an accent wall in the second wallpaper. And maybe a fab bright cornice board for contrast? Oooh so many possibilities.

Headboard is to die for. I love both of the wallpapers, but I vote for the swans. It’s specialer! ;)

Hurray for that awesome yellow headboard! YAY this is looking so Palm Springs meets 2012 and I dig it. I love love the pink bell flowers but either would be rad.

Have you thought about possibly painting all of the walls a soft grey and bringing some color and pattern in with different curtains? I am not a fan of accent walls, and the curtains may be the way to go. I think a fabric like the swan wall paper would be totes fab. Just throwing it out there for your consideration. (PS love love love the head board and monogram!)

i like the idea. don’t think it’s vom at all :) i’m the only one, but i like the pink flowers!

I love the bed and I love the plan for the room. I’d love to tell you which wallpaper I like better but I’m torn. At first glance I liked the swans, but for some reason I’m kind of liking that second one after seeing the bed and the carpet and the rest of the room. Tough choice – both are lovely though!

i love the swan paper!! maybe even frame it out with moulding so that it looks like panels???
LOVE the headboard by the by.

I think you should definitely go with the swan wallpaper. I love foxgloves, but those just seem a little intense, but maybe they aren’t so big in real life?

ps I love your vanity situation, so cute!

Not Vom at all!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the swan paper, I think it is parfait! Ties it all together. Way to go once again design superstar, you are amazing! :) xoox

Not sure why, but swan wallpaper always reminds me of 1950s era powder rooms… so I say go with the Foxgloves.

WHAT about doing some Gracie Wallpaper panels over the bed? You can custom create the style and size of the panel- but they are a little pricey.

    Loving the yellow!

Ok, Bailey… this is going to be a ramble and a gamble, but bear with me… I think I may just be spending your (pete’s) hard earned monies vicariously which will make my husband sooo happy that I am not spending ours for once!

First of all, This is gorgeous. And, I must add,it is almost perfect. I agree that it could use a little “jazz” to be “you”. I am not a lover of the accent wall… at all. But I am sure that if you do this, I will change my mind! With that being said, I would leave the walls alone unless you go all out and use the swans on 4 walls. 4 walls are better than one!

This is what i (and FRank) suggusssstt… for a banksey bedroom.

    1. Upholster a bench at the end of your bed in the swans maybe even with black piping if it is straight upholstery… or a rosy pink velvet would be fab, too! Especially if it is tufted! (I actually just purchased the perfect shade pink velvet from pindler and pindler, which is soooo shocking because I had never purchased anything from them before, and it is 100% affordable! So much so, when I get sick of it in 1 year, I can replace it no problem!)

A settee would be fab if you have the room. I cannot tell from the photos. But it looks pretty roomy! If you do, I would def. do the swans, and some pink and yellow pillow love. Pillows piped in black and green?)

    2. New lamps. Perhaps some pink murano action… they have some fabulous ones on Swank. Check them out! Perhaps some black lampshades… but I am not sure about that one yet. Bring a black shade home and try it out.

    3. If you do a rosy pink velvet bench, I think an accent chair in the swans somewhere in the room with perhaps a yellow pillow piped in the grass green from the carpeting (monogrammed to match your bed perhaps, I don’t know. I need to think about this monogramming thing I can get carried away with a good ole’ monogram!

The good news is that this room is almost 100% complete and amazingly Bailey!

    4. A fabulous gilt wood (or is it giltwood) mirror over your bed!

    5. Perhaps a little chandelier love, too! I am loving the curey and company beaded ones, as well as the fab niermann weeks beaded chandelier. Or, you could possibly move that amazing chandelier that your mom bought you years ago into your bedroom!

I always think that you can fix pretty much everything with a little black, pink, or pale blue! Jonathan Adler swears by orange. He claims it fixes everything!

(have you thought about trying your marot print over the bed? It could fix everything without spending a single penny. You never know until you try! A little artwork on your wall could go a long way!)

one last thing… check out brunschwig’s silk road fabric in the vanilla colorway. It saved my bedroom! Well, that and some samuel and sons trim! :) That print could be fabulous in here, too!

Love the swans! Those colors are so scrumptious together…can’t wait to see it on the wall(s)…

LOVE everything! What about the idea of wallpaper panels, with picture frame molding?

Of the 2 wallpapers, the foxglove is my favorite. I personally don’t like accent walls. I had one in my old bedroom and I just always felt like my room wasn’t “complete”. I do like the idea however of doing curtains in the swan print! That would be super gorgeous and a more subtle statement. I also agree with the person who said a big mirror above the bed!
I know it will look fabulous!

Thanks for all the input guys! I had already put a reserve on the swans but then I got nervous…Going to go for it!

Katiekates-Thought about it, but we already have curtains that are pretty nice so I think it might just be a waste of monies.

Misse- I got the nightstands off of 1stDibs, glad you like them!

Daily Cup of Couture- They are not, our last bed was and we loved them but they got destroyed in the move…These are from a linen shop in Houston

Stuart- First of all, YES, total 50s powder room…but oddly maybe what I am going for here? I kind of picture myself sitting at my vanity brushing my perfect Veronica Lake curls with a giant brush in some silky robe ala 50s starlet…We were going to do the Gracie/DeGournay panel thing but it was just too spensive, thus this solution. We are on the same page though!

Rachel- For you!? I might go back to work ;)

KKRS-You are a rambler and a gambler and I like where your heads at! Defs thinking some new lamps, we have had those forever…We shall see!!

    Bailey,

I swear it was the 3 glasses of wine I had BEFORE dinner last night. What can I say, I am a total cakebread lush. It is one of my many vices! And, I must say that a life without vices is simply not me!

Bailey, I’ve been following your blog for months now but rarely comment since Im always checking it from my iphone. I had a baby boy a few weeks after your Gracie was born, and I’ve loved following along in your engaging journey. I also just found some pics of your home, which are so inspiring. I live in nyc, but its officially made me want a house! Anyway, love your blog and just wanted to let you know that you are adorable!
