Before&After: George Banks Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is the only room we really redecorated from scratch. This was our old master situation in Chicago, which I loved, but I definitely wanted a change for this house. First of all, this master is like almost thricely the size of the Chicago room. Also, the new owners of Chicago wanted the canopy, and I was able to sell the old headboard to a client. Time for a fresh start!

As I mentioned yesterday, this space was previously a fourth bedroom cut off from the rest of the house accessed either by walking through the master bedroom, or from a staircase in the kitchen. We took out the staircase and made it into my office downstairs, and into Pete’s bathroom and closet upstairs. We moved the wall that separated the room from the old master back 5 feet extending the existing closet and bathroom, which became mine!

A visual would probably be helpful.

You have a gorgeous home and I love visiting your site for many nuggets of inspiration and many jealousy-inducing moments.

    However.

I HATE that “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” pillow. Well, I hate the saying. I know it’s Jonathan Adler. I know he does great stuff. But I think life should be about enjoying. And in the bedroom no less? Sigh.

  36. erin June 14, 2012 at 9:34 am

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! I love it all. You are crazy talented.

  37. Sarah MacMillan June 14, 2012 at 4:56 pm

  42. Ashley June 19, 2012 at 12:09 pm

Bailey–I love your house. It is so beautiful and you are so talented. Obsessed with Pete’s shower. I am wondering how you took those photos where they are blurred on the outside with one thing in focus. It has such a cool effect and makes it look like you are looking in on a room in a dollhouse. So cool!!

  43. Audrey June 21, 2012 at 11:23 am

Love everything. I must know where you found the yellow headboard bed! Please? Please?!

  44. Wendy June 22, 2012 at 2:33 pm
