Y’all are nice.

Um…Wow.

I wasn’t really expecting that. I was hoping for like, 40 comments. Friday’s are never big on the reader interaction. I am pretty blown away, if that is indicative at all of your interest in Biscuit, I think I am going to start sleeping a little better at night.

And I am glad I did that, I thought the Queen people were going to outnumber the Kings at least 2:1, and while Queens are a bit more prevalent, there is a strong King contingency out there.

I have a question for the “Full” people.

Why can’t you use queen? I know it isn’t as tight a designated full would fit, but it is only 6 inches wider, so that is really only 3 extra inches of tuck on each side. But maybe there is something I am missing here? Explain yo’selves so I can better serve you, please.

And because you all were so wonderful and helpful, here is a little sneak peek of what is to come.

Just a dollop of a  tease, but I will also tell you we are printing on 350 thread count sateen luxury.

My partner Isabel and I are going to the factory next week for 5 days, staying in the factory, to watch them print for quality control. That will be…interesting.

I am also going to do a bigger more proper polling tomorrow because y’all have given such awesome feedback, I’m going to ask better questions.

Ok, it’s monday, I have to get my ass in gear.

xoxo

it is really more of an issue having a full size bed with the fitted sheet than with the duvet/flat sheet situation. the fitted sheet just gets all over the place… there are not a lot of good options for single peeps with full sized beds.

  2. Allison September 17, 2012 at 9:55 am

Hey Bailey, I have a full size bed and Queen sheets are just too baggy on it. but Queen duvets, coverlets work just fine on a full size bed.

  3. Beth September 17, 2012 at 9:56 am

As far as doubles go, I would totally buy your bedding if you had real double stuff available. Okay, that made me think of Oreos. Anyway, I choose double beds for my kids instead of twins because they are just a little nicer and not cost prohibitive. However, it’s so disappointing to have to buy “full/queen” duvets. The kids, who are now teenagers, hate them because they only kind of fit.

Just my 2 cents :) . I’m psyched to see what you are brewing up!!!

  4. Catherine @ DCCL September 17, 2012 at 9:57 am

I currently have queen sheets on my full bed. It’s not especially crisp looking, but I happen to really like these sheets, so it doesn’t bother me much.

And Raquel is right: It’s really just an issue with the fitted sheet.

We have a full in a tiny apartment in Vancouver (Canada) I think a queen would take up most of the bedroom.

  6. ShoppyShops September 17, 2012 at 10:32 am

As others have posted, it’s the fitted sheet that is an issue…it’s too “shifty.” I actually like using a Queen duvet on a Full-sized bed…makes it cozier. Hope this helps! Looking forward to Biscuit’s grand opening!

  7. Kate September 17, 2012 at 10:35 am

Totally agree with people above — nothing worse than having a shifty sheet on a full size bed — it’s just not as polished either. I dream of a bigger bed, but Full size is a must for apartment living!

  8. ecq September 17, 2012 at 10:48 am

i don’t like baggy sheets, but queen duvet makes the makes the bed super cozy! i wish i had gotten a queen originally but my room in my first new york apartment was pint sized and it would have been too big!

  9. Cat September 17, 2012 at 11:01 am

So when exactly are we opening the store? I am needing new bedding in the worst way, and I don’t want to buy anything because of Biscuit, but my biscuit is getting quite shabby.

  10. Molly September 17, 2012 at 11:02 am

We have a full sized bed in our guest bedroom and use Queen blankets but full sized sheets. It’s the fitted sheet that is a pain if trying to use Queen sized. Although I did buy some of those cheap jersey t-shirt sheets from Target and the Queen fit the full size bed just fine. They start out looking small but are really stretchy I think thats why they work for both.

  11. Gillian September 17, 2012 at 11:37 am

We have a full because we couldn’t get a queen to fit down our basement steps to the guest bedroom. Now that we are in a new house and have a real guest bedroom, we still use the full because it is only 3 years old and the room is really small. I do find it difficult to find nice looking bedding for a full, so I have resorted to tucking the fitted sheet best I can.

  12. Pam September 17, 2012 at 11:49 am

I have full size beds in two bedrooms and a daybed in the third. I think queen sheets are fine on full beds but queen size coverlets and duvets definitely don’t work. I’ve tried them several times and they always cover up too much of the dust ruffle because they hang down so far. However, a couple of years ago I put my beds on 7″ risers and had 22″ dust ruffles custom made to accommodate the extra length, so a queen size coverlet would probably work now although I haven’t tried one yet.

  13. Kate September 17, 2012 at 11:49 am

I have a full because my bedframe is a hand-me-down from my great grandmother and it’s too small to fit a queen. That said, my mattress is so deep I use queen sheets anyway…. But as for headboards, I live in Boston and large (read: high) queen headboards can be tricksy to fit up old, New England house stairwells. Just a thought!

Holy cow THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY SIX COMMENTS. Safe to say you CAN sleep easy at night, Miss Bailey. You are quite popular!

  15. Maureen Davis September 17, 2012 at 12:01 pm

Our daughter’s full bed is an old cast iron bed, we are also putting in 4 full size bunk beds in a beach home as well. We also use the queen comforter typically on the full size, but need the full sheets.

So if you are going to the factory…does that mean your products will be made in the USA? =) Can’t wait to see more!

  17. therobynnest September 17, 2012 at 2:47 pm

Off topic– We love high-end sheets but seem to have a problem with pilling where the feet are. Not my feet, mind you, but my husband’s scratchy heels from our tile floor. He does get a pedi from time to time but not as often as I do. Is there a way to make sheets that don’t ever pill?

  18. Kimberly Lewis September 17, 2012 at 2:53 pm

I had a full up until last year, it was mostly for space reasons since I live in NYC and it was only me sleeping in it. I finally got a Queen when I moved to a bigger apartment. Those 6 inches can matter in a tiny NYC bedroom!

  19. Ashleigh September 17, 2012 at 6:21 pm

Full size mattresses are also shorter than queens — by five inches, which makes them the same length as traditional twin sized mattresses. When you combine that difference with the width difference, it makes for bunchy times with the fitted sheets. Most of my sheet sets are Porthault, so a queen will do fine since their bottom sheets aren’t fitted (and like others have said, the I usually use a queen for duvets, blankets etc.) but it kills me when I see fancy pants sheets I lust after that are fitted and only come in queens and kings. It’s an epidemic. Bisquit can be the antidote!

  20. ChristyDoering September 17, 2012 at 6:22 pm

My hubby and I went looking at mattresses today, and I’m worried that our current sheets will not fit if we get a pillow-top. Do you guys plan to make your sheets deeper so people can use your bedding even if the mattress is more than 12″ deep?

  21. Blair September 17, 2012 at 6:33 pm

With full size beds I’ve found that a Queen size comforter/quilt sitch will work just fine, but if the sheets are queen instead of full, things get a bit untidy. Especially in the fitted department. Same thing with dust ruffels, you really need the exact size to fit your bed so that everything lays smooth and crisp.

  22. Marcy September 17, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I do not understand the logic behind getting a full. I heard they only exist because of european sizing or something though I have no idea if that’s true.

So since that’s not helpful, I wanted to mention: go to bed bath and beyond and play with the Pure Beech *modal* sheets. They are amazing. I won’t sleep in anything but, personally. It’s a niche market (with a religious following of sorts) but if you find a place that will print on modal…oh gosh that’d be great. I’m sick of the solids and would pay twice the price for a yummy print.

  23. Marcy September 17, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Oh and for those who have deep mattresses, I heard that you can get these suspender-like straps to put under the mattress and then clip to keep the bottom sheet down. There’s obviously a gap and whatever and it probably looks silly but … options are nice. Especially if they are symmetrical and colorful.

  24. Calais September 18, 2012 at 11:04 am

We use a full/double for the simple fac that it is the only bed size that will fit in our teeny-tiny, miniscule, studio apartment. I would D.I.E. for a queen bed….but nope…the rent wins this fight!

  25. ROK September 18, 2012 at 11:58 am

Queens are also longer, so it is a lot of baggy to use queen sheets. It would drive me nuts. But I understand if you don’t do Full Sheets–it is an inventory/bulk order issue. And since we are on the topic….full/queens for quilts and duvets are fine for full size beds, but I hate them for Queen Beds. They are a little short for me on a queen.

And as for the historical question, double/full used to be the “big” size on beds (the name “double” comes b/c it was sized for 2 people) until 1958, when Queens were introduced. A Double in the UK is longer than a double in the US, but the size is not a hold-over from another country.

  26. Christine September 18, 2012 at 12:36 pm

We’re full people because of space, but also because we cuddle a lot. With the constant shifting in and out of cuddling, queen sheets shift way too much.

  27. Ami September 18, 2012 at 12:49 pm

The full is in our guest room…it is the largest that will fit in there. As our guests never stay more than a few nights it works okay. Wish we had room for a queen but we don’t.

  28. Nicole September 18, 2012 at 4:16 pm

    1. I have a queen bed that I like, I think a king would be too tight with our night stands.

    2. I have a dire request for sheets that I can not find. I don’t know if you’ve ever used old sheets from the 50′sish, they are a really super soft but cool cotton and I can not find anything like them in dark colors or Queen; only in Full or Twin sizes which I think speaks to the fact that the bigger bed sizes are a newer trend. I usually have to get them an estate sale or I have some from my grandparents, but they are wearing thin.

  29. Tricia September 19, 2012 at 12:57 pm

We have a queen for our room, but I bought an incredible full sized antique bed frame so we have that in our guest room. Even if I hadn’t fallen in love with the frame, I probably still would have gone full in there because it the room also doubles as my office so I wanted the bed to take up as little space as possible!

  30. Catherine September 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Our master bed and our guest bed are queen sized, but our girls each have full beds. I buy full sheet sets for their beds, but if I was forced to use queen sheets on a full, I might go old school and use sheet garters to keep the fitted sheet, well, fitted. No one wants a fitted sheet that moves around or looks sloppy.

Sheet garters may be a little redneck, but if anyone can make them cool again, it’s you. And, you could count on more queen sheet set sales if you target the full size crowd with adorable sheet garter sets to “suck in the queen”. There has to be something funny you could do with that.

Seems like a lot of people have similar answers to mine… My boyfriend, 50 lb dog, and I all share a full size bed for two big reasons: 1. We use my bed frame, which is an heirloom antique, meaning I can’t (wouldn’t ever) get rid of it, and 2. We can’t agree on a mattress type (he’s into memory foam and I can’t stand the stuff).
