Introducing my husband, Pete. And…decorBase!

Bailey occasionally tells me that she received an email or comment asking about me. Nothing too cray, but more like “there is an awful lot of pink in your home, how did you make Pete okay with that.”  The answer (for those that have asked): Bailey has skillz, and if it looks good, I embrace it.

Recently, Bailey fielded a question about what I do for work, and while I am a lawyer, I have primarily been interested in finance.  But when Bailey complained about online resources for interior design, my mind’s wheels started spinning.  Why isn’t there one place to go for design inspiration, design help, and, most importantly, interior design shopping?

So with some help from a few individuals who are more technologically inclined, Bailey, and my friend Alaina of TheEverygirl.com, I decided to create that place.

So Peppermintbliss readers, meet decorBase, your one stop shop for home design.

We will be teaming up with your favorite home goods stores so you can peruse and shop home decor in one functional, online location.

And those boards that Bailey puts together for her e-clients? Our technology enables you to create them for yourself.

Users will also have the ability to hire decorators who choose to list their services on our site, and you can browse decorators by location, price point, and aesthetic.   And if you’re a designer, you can list your portfolio to reach a whole new audience.

I know it can be frustrating to find the right decor pieces online, and I truly believe decorBase will make the process that much easier. So stop on over and register so you’ll be the first to know when we officially launch. You can also follow us on Twitter or Facebook. Annnd please feel free to leave your feedback as I’d love to know what frustrates y’all about online shopping and other online decor tools/resources, and how we could make your experience better.

Nice to meet y’all! And thanks for having me, Bails.

This sounds great & I registered!! Ok- here’s a pet peeve of mine: when designing boards for clients, I would love to be able to show what their window treatments are going to look like in the fabric I’ve spec’d. You know how Serena &Lily let’s you “design your own bed”? Something like that, except maybe you have couple of different types of panels (flat & pleated) and a Roman Shade. The Shade Store does this, except I hate the background (it needs to be blank) and you can only use the fabrics they sell. AND you could do a “design your own bed” with Biscuit’s new offerings!!

How exciting! Congrats! We are in the process of our house design. This is just what I need to convince my husband that ‘Tuscan pope-style’ is not my thing and also that a modern/traditional mix is a good thing. Fingers crossed!

    Hey Pete (and Bailey)!

Holler if you run into tech issues/need to brainstorm – I find Bailey’s blog really inspiring as I remodel my Logan Sq condo … and if you ever circle back to Chicago or wanna hop on Skype, I’d gladly donate a couple hours of consulting if you need to bounce stuff off of someone. (I run a company that builds tech/web startups for nontechnical founders – and we’re even working on a platform to better help people like you talk to your customers/get a handle on feedback as you build… because this shit’s hard, for lack of a better phrase).

Cheers – excited to use the product. It sounds super useful!!!
