Pete and I spent this weekend becoming well acquainted with the porcelain fixtures in our apartment. If any of you have already, or do in the future, become a victim of the Fall Plague that is going around, I sincerely feel your pain. That junk is not messing around. I have never in my life been laid out like that. All the while I was lying on the bathroom floor I couldn’t help thinking: ‘this is awful, but maybe it will get me back on track for the skinnies that have been eluding me’. But apparently saltines and gatorade have incredible weight maintaining properties, and this morning all I want to do is look at some pretty.
Our Houston house is more petite than our past digs, and I am looking forward to a cozier spread. This time, I didn’t have to buy or design any furniture pieces, and the house didn’t really need much work at all, so I have been focusing mostly on the details and making this one a jewel box where we will hopefully be for many, many years.
And that has me thinking about the most jewel-boxy of spaces: the closet.
Can you even imagine?
Miles Redd turns it out as usual…
Mine is nowhere near these, or my former closet to be honest, but I am thinking about investing in a swaggy underfoot situation to step it up a notch.
Hot pink like Jankowitz’s up there.
A little Kelly Wearstler?
Some very uncharacteristic for me purple?
I have been a long time admirer of the zap.
Since it is such a small space I can splurge a bit, and our house is surpassingly devoid of pink this time around (not totally, but it is definitely less of a presence) so I want my closet to be ultra femme.
I have not priced any of these out yet, so right now this is purely fantasy. What is your favorite?

The chartreuse and the hot pink for suuure. I honestly can’t wait to see the new place =)
I read blogs from all over the US & Canada, and it seems this plague is really bad ALL OVER the US! So sorry you all went through that!
Whatever you do in your new place will doubtless be fab. In fact, your closet will probably be nicer than my dining room! You’re so talented!
I love that lavender with dots unit. I find it to be a wonderfully flattering color, and we all need that when we’z be gettin’ dolled up.
I’m DYING to see your Houston closet. The Chicago one was major closet porn so I can only imagine how good this one will be.
chartreuse and pink or the bright pink, I think the more solid color in a smaller space would be better than the pattern as adorable as they are.
The hot pink or chartreuse, cause the would be excellent backdrop fro colorful clothes, shoes, handbags….but I think the walls and shelves would need something with them–paint, fabic, wallpaper. Also like the Kelly W. and feel like hat could hold its own without having to do much to walls/shelving. Can’t go wrong with any of hem, though!
Zap. Do it. I’ve priced him amd he does not come cheap… But I’ve seen him in person, and he is pure magic. He’s been on my house porn list forever.
I vote for a crazy mechanical shoe display closet like Goldie Hawn had in Overboard! http://www.agentlover.com/blog/2010/07/06/80s-glam-icons-goldie-hawn-in-overboard/ Kidding. I say the Zap. For real. It’s amazing!
Kelly Wearstler is nice, soothing, and pretty for the eye balls, zap is just amazeballs. I want the Kelly though. Yum-oh.
That hot pink business is making my morning. GET. IT.
We’d be happy to help you out with that hot pink mad plush silk or that chartreuse number! Thanks for including Carini Lang in your closet dreams! Obviously we’d all do almost anything to have a closet with a giant WINDOW! In NYC we call that an office. You can always contact us in NYC or find us at the amazing Carol Piper Showroom in Houston. Good luck with your closet, and thanks again!
