Do you know Ernesto?

Hola!

Pete and I snuck off to Mexico for a few days with some friends.

For months now I have been pushing everything and everyone to the max and kept saying “oh things will calm down once [christmas is over] [all of our bedding gets in] [season 2 is printed] [dallas market] etc etc etc etc” But things weren’t calming down because sometimes I don’t know how to calm down. We were reaching these goals but I wouldn’t even notice we had checked something off because I was already focusing on the next thing, and that is no way to be.

I was having major anxiety about leaving, but it is amazing how many things seem righter when you walk in the door and someone hands you a margarita.

Also, I think I might actually be in Heaven. Our hotel is so beautiful.

Normally when I think of Mexico I think of a big beautiful mess of colors.

Like Betsey Johnsons place.bj1

But this is all monotone neutral cactus-y minimalism.SWFIMG_120307_17355904_WX2M1And it is so…rawr.

Makes you reconsider some shit.

Or, at the very least, has been a much needed palette cleanser. A little readjustment for my tired eyeballs.

Speaking of tired eyeballs.

How do you like the new direction around here? See that new header at the top?

(you might have to clear your history for it to show up- but it’ll get there)

We haven’t had a new look around these parts in three years and it was time for a change.

Kind of coincides with my new minimalist appreciation I am experiencing at the moment- though this has been in the works for awhile now. This is phase one, we still have a lot we are working on with the format and overall functionality of the thing, but I am enjoying this new clean slate.

Tranquilo.

I will be back tomorrow. Burned to a crisp and ready to get back at it.

What say you on the new look? Or anything, really. Let’s talk.

Bailey I loved the old header, but I think this one suits you the way you’ve evolved over the years. I’m glad you’re enjoying your vacation and that you took time to get away from it all!

I, for one, am loving the new minimalism. I am coincidentally also having a new-direction-taking-minimalist moment myself. Different is good, sometimes. Would love to be in that resort but I have my own birthday surprise excursion coming soon, so I can’t complain. Too much.

I love it, it’s like grown up, but not really bc there is ice cream. Minimalistic-whimsy (if that makes sense).

Yep, think there might be something in the water, as I’ve been craving palate cleanser design, too.
    …And speaking of something in the water….your Mehi-Can-Ah getaway looks mighty…romantic. ;)

    PS – Header looks great!

Oh my goodness, I completely know what you mean by the never ending list of things to do and always operating a million miles per minute and promising to get a little relaxation “as soon as”.

And I love the new header. My only suggestion would be to shorten the white space under the “morsels” line and above the content links. :)

I can’t get the new header to show up. I am dying with anticipation now!

Hi! The hotel is Mexico IS most absolutely awesome. I love the new header! Does it seem like the Peppermint Bliss is a bit small? Maybe less white space and bigger logo? Definitely digging the new streamlined look though :) )

  16. Lilly March 11, 2013 at 4:49 pm

What part of Mexico is that?
I am from Sonora, Mexico and those cacti make me think of home.

Nevermind, I saw the hotel link and I know where that is =)

I stayed at Las Ventanas once. Beautiful architecture but I was stung by wasps at the pool and they got our breakfast order seriously wrong every single morning so I have mixed feelings about this place.

  19. Sara March 11, 2013 at 8:48 pm

the new header is a great improvement! maybe better even still if you made the font slightly larger?

  20. Kate March 11, 2013 at 9:42 pm

I love the new header! I’ve been a reader for ages now but have never commented…figured it’s time to break my streak! Thank you SO much for always being so honest and truthful and SUCH a breath of fresh air on the internet…and SO inspirational for us young and aspiring designers! Enjoy your break, you deserve it!

love the new look! And I’ve been stalking your blog so much lately with all your posts about your homes and how you’ve designed them. My husband is loving it too. I think he’s going to crap his pants if he doesn’t get your new den recreated in our home. Bar and all.

  22. Molly March 13, 2013 at 11:21 am

Bailey! I love the new header. So fresh and pretty! I was wondering, when you travel, how do you usually plan your trips? Do you use any websites/services to find hotels in the area you’re traveling to? Also, how do you usually find the best things to do in the area you’re in? Any travel advice would be greatly appreciated!
