“Pregnancy Punk” is not a look that I am 100% can/should be rocked, but I am doing my best and werkin’ it. I spent my entire last pregnancy in leggings and empire waste tunics just MOM’d OUT y’all. But I am feeling far too funky fresh to submit to the mom-i-form again- yet anyway.
I am past the point where I can wear most of my regular clothes, and I don’t want to spend much $$$ on a maternity wardrobe. I bit the bullet and bought a few pairs of maternity pants. People often suggest just leaving your regular pants unzipped and tying the button holes together with string etc., but I respect myself and refuse to go through life with my trousers unhinged. And I hope you do too.
Shopbop carries a good selection of the designer maternity jeans, I have tried a few versions offered by my favorite regular jean brands, but you cannot IMAGINE the joy I felt when I was checking in with Jenna and friends and saw that they are now offering the Minnie in Maternity!
PRAISE! I bought a pair in every color. And y’all, I am obsessed. So comfortable. Just the right amount of elastic in the belly for a growing bump, but not so much that you are constantly having to pull up your pants. They are currently offering them in black, navy, and pinot noir…and if I could humbly suggest they bring on an olive green for the fall I will be all set.
Now while Minnie is taking care of my hind parts, I have been wanting to stay more “on trend” up top. Lucky for me, fashion hipsters seem to dig maternity cuts, and stores like H&M, ASOS, and TopShop are slanging dresses/tops for pennies that work splendidly to achieve a sort of pregnancy punk look.
I wore this dress ($17.95 Y’ALL!!!!) yesterday with those sandals, and felt cute-preggie-edgy. Which felt nice. I plan to keep rockin’ it well into the fall, adding tights, moto booties, and some cozy ‘cessories.
Are any of y’all pregnant with me? Would you find the very occasional pregnancy outfit post useful? Or does the BaileyCheese stand alone on this one?
